There are usually empty seats during a flight, but a seat not taken today cannot be added to the total number of seats available tomorrow. importance of time: if you purchase a good, it doesn't matter if you decide to use that good immediately or not, while a service is produced and consumed at the same time, e. g. the airline company is providing the flight service during the time that you are actually flying.
