What happens when electrons are passed from one atom to a more electronegative atom?

    The more electronegative atom becomes reduced (gain of electrons) because of the Redox reaction principle stating that reduction is a gain of electrons and oxidation is a loss of electrons. This will also allow for energy to be released.
