What is produced when iron-bearing silicate minerals in the desert landscape oxidize?

    When Iron-bearing silicate minerals in the desert landscape oxidize; it will produce a color to the stones and soils that looks like a rust color. Oxidize means an element is chemically combined with oxygen. So in this situation, the Iron bearing silicate minerals was chemically combined with oxygen, that’s why it produces a rust colored stain. It is called as rust colored stain because it basically looks like a rust stain, it is color orange that caused stain the stones and sands in the desert.
