    We can produce 6.63 grams of Magnesium oxide

    Explanation:

    Step 1: Data given

    Mass of magnesium = 4.00 grams

    Molar mass of Magnesium = 24.305 g/mol

    O2 is in excess

    Molar mass of Magnesium oxide = 40.3044 g/mol

    Step 2: The balanced equation

    2Mg + O2 → 2MgO

    For 2 moles Magnesium we need 1 mol oxygen gas to produce 2 moles magnesiumoxide

    Step 3: Calculate moles magnesium

    Moles Mg = 4.00 grams / 24.305 g/mol

    Moles Mg = 0.1646 moles

    Step 4: Calculate moles Magnesiumoxide

    For 2 moles Magnesium we need 1 mol oxygen gas to produce 2 moles magnesiumoxide

    For 0.1646 moles Mg we'll have 0.1646 moles MgO

    Step 5: Calculate mass magnesium oxide

    Mass MgO = Moles MgO * molar mass MgO

    Mass MgO = 0.1646 moles * 40.3044 g/mol

    Mass MgO = 6.63 grams

    We can produce 6.63 grams of Magnesium oxide

    6.63g of MgO

    Explanation:

    Magnesium (Mg) reacts with oxygen (O) in

    Equation of reaction

    Mg + O₂ → MgO

    From the stoichiometry of the reaction, 1 mole of Mg gives 1 mole of MgO

    1 mole = molar mass

    Molar mass of Mg = 24.3 g/mol

    Molarmass of MgO = (24.3 + 16.0) = 40.3g/mol

    24.3 g of Mg = 40.3g of MgO

    4 g of Mg = x g of MgO

    x = (4 * 40.3) / 24.3

    x = 6.63 g of MgO
