Your TLC results for ortho-hydroxyacetophenone versus para-hydroxyacteophenone will indicate that one compound is significantly less polar than the other. Based on an analysis of polarity (using only dipole moments and electronegativities), which compound would you expect to be more polar?

    Explanation:

    The 4-hydroxy has a reduced dipole because its two electronegative substituents give it a dipole in opposite directions. On the other hand the 2-hydroxy has dipoles that add together.
