Chemical bonds are formed in order for the atoms to be in a stable form. When the atoms in the compounds do not form bonds, they are in a state of instability and high energy is required for them to stay at this state. However, the laws of the Earth do not allow this. All must achieve the lowest energy possible. That is why these atoms form bonds to reach stability.
