Using a handbook, look up up the formula and structure of potassium hydrogen phthalate (khp) used to standardize the solution of naoh in this experiment. calculate the molar mass of kph.

    KHP is an acronym which stands for potassium hydrogen phthalate. It is an acidic salt which is white crystalline powder at room temperature. When in solution it is colorless. It has a chemical formula of C8H5KO4. Molar mass of a compound is the sum of the masses of all the atoms involved in the structure of the compound. So, we need the atomic masses of the elements involved. We do as follows

    C = 12.01 g/mol x 8 = 96.02 g/mol

    H = 1.01 g/mol x 5 = 5.05 g/mol

    K = 39.10 g/mol x 1 = 39.10 g/mol

    O = 16 g/mol x 4 = 64 g/mol

    Adding, we will have 204.17 g/mol. This would be the molar mass of KHP.
