Chemical equations is a way of representing chemical reactions on paper simply involving only formulae and symbols.
The reactants are written in their formulae form on the left hand side (LHS) of the equation while the products are written, also in their formulae form, on the RHS.
An arrow symbol leads the reactants to the products.
Example
Mg+2HCl->MgCl2 + H2.
