For the following questions consider a water molecule, H2O. a. What type of bond is formed between the oxygen and the hydrogen atoms? b. Describe how these bonds form. c. Explain why there are two hydrogen atoms for each oxygen atom.

    a. the bond between the oxygen and hydrogen atoms is the Polar covalent bonds.

    b. Polar hydrogen bond - They are polar in nature due to the unequal sharing of the electrons, hydrogen has a partial positive charge and the oxygen has a partial negative charge.

    The bonds that are covalent in nature are responsible for a new molecule formation, but hydrogen bonds can not.

    c. According to the balanced chemical equation, i. e.,

    1 O₂ + 2 H₂ → 2 H₂O

    One molecule of oxygen reacts with two molecules of hydrogen to give the product as water.
