Tom wanted to test his hypothesis that plants grow better at room temperature then in cold temperatures. He placed an ivy plant in the refrigerator, which had no light source. He also placed a spider plant in the window in his room. What were Tom controls?

    Explanation:

    Control variable in any experiment is basically a variable which is not exposed to any of the testing conditions or provisions so that the results obtained from the test conducted on experimental group can be tested with the control variable in order to determine the impact of test conducted.

    Here the experiment group comprises of the plant which is placed in the refrigerator i. e under other than normal temperature condition, while the control group is the spider plant that is allowed to grown in normal condition in presence of sunlight under normal temperature.
