In gas particles, when the temperature is increased heat energy is increased, this heat energy is converted to kinetic energy in the gas particles.

Kinetic energy is the energy associated with motion.

    Kinetic energy = 1/2mv²

kinetic energy is proportional to velocity. When the gas particles gain kinetic energy, kinetic energy increasing means their velocity is also increasing.

Therefore when temperature is increased, the kinetic energy of the particles increase and the particles move faster.

However when the temperature is decreased, the kinetic energy of particles reduce, when the kinetic energy reduces the velocity of gas particles too reduce.

    therefore when temperature is decreased

    C. the particles move slower and their average kinetic energy decreases
