It is widely known that fossil fuels pollute the environment and cause harmful effects. Why then are fossil fuels still being widely used?

1. not enough of society knows the harmful nature of fossil fuels

2. cost-effective alternatives are not yet ready to replace fossil fuels

3. alternative fuels offer just as many environmental problems as fossil fuels

4. the demand for alternative fuels cannot be met by current manufacturers

    Fossil fuels are still being widely used because of the fact that the demand for alternative fuels cannot be met by current manufacturers.
