As you move down a group the ionization energy increases and as you move across a period from right to left your ionization energy level also increases

    Down a group for metals the ionization energy actually decreases as the outermost electron is at a greater distance from the nucleus and can more easily be removed whereas across a period it increases from left to right because each subsequent electron is being added to the same valence orbital and the shielding effect remains constant.
