The answer is; During the winter solstice

In the Northern hemisphere, this occurs in December. Due to the tilt of the earth, during the winter solstice, nights are longer than days because the sun rays travel a longer distance to reach the northern hemisphere in this period. The position of the sun, above the latitude of Capricorn, in the South, also put the sun's location further from the northern hemisphere.
