Seismic S waves consist of shear wave propagation, where the particles move perpendicular to the propagation direction of the disturbance. These types of waves can be propagated inside the earth.

Its speed is less than that of the primary waves. Because of this, they appear on the ground somewhat after the others. These waves are the ones that generate the oscillations during the seismic movement and the ones that do most of the damage. They do not move through liquid elements.

Seismic S waves also known as Seismic shear waves are found on the earth. These waves exists in Earthquakes.

The waves usually move up and down or in a perpendicular motion according to the direction of the wave propagation. These waves are found mainly in solids and can't occur in liquids. It causes decimation of rocks and explosions.
