For the following reaction, identify the element that was oxidized, the element that was reduced, and the oxidizing agent.

Zn + H2SO4yields ZnSO4 + H2

    Remember LEO say GER. Loss electron Oxidation, Gain Electron reduction.

    But in this equation, it is hard to see the gaining and losing to determine which is being oxidized and reduced. So, you can use another method. Oxidation means adding oxygen and removing Hydrogens. while reduction is the opposite. Because Zinc (Zn) is gaining oxygen to become ZnSO4,. Zn is being oxidized, which means H2SO4 is being reduced. This also meant because H2SO4 is being reduced, it is the oxidizing agent.
