Physical properties of a substance are those can be observed or measured without altering or changing the composition or identity of that substance. Examples of such are:

    1. texture

    2. color

    3. smell or odor

    4. mass

    5. density

    6. solubility

    7. Brittleness

    8. malleability

    9. luster

    10. viscosity.

Texture is how the material feels to the touch. This can be changed but the substance remains the same. For instance, if a hard material is rough in texture, it can be filed using a file to smoothen its surface. The texture will have changed from rough to smooth but the material itself retains its original identity.
