Most minerals are chemical compounds consisting of two or more different elements, e very mineral has a unique arrangement of elements within its inherent structure. This arrangement of atoms determines a mineral type. There are over 3,000 minerals, and therefore it is difficult to determine accurate data to generalise on minerals beyond this.
