    HClO₄ (l) → H⁺ (aq) + ClO₄⁻ (aq)

    Explanation:

    Arrhenius definition states that a compound is an acid when, in aqueous solution it can releases protons.

    Therefore a compound is a base when, in aqueous solutions it can releases hydroxides anions.

    For example:

    Nitric acid → HNO₃

    It is an Arrhenius acid, because it can release a H⁺, according to this equation: HNO₃ → H⁺ + NO₃⁻

    HClO₄ → Perchloric acid

    HClO₄ (l) → H⁺ (aq) + ClO₄⁻ (aq)

    Perchloric acid releases a proton when it is immersed in an aqueous solution. And it also produces perchlorate anion.
