An 0.648 g sample of isobutene contains 0.556g of carbonand the rest is hydrogen. 0.5 mol of isobutene has a mass of 28.5g. what is the empirical formula and molecular formula?

    The ratio of carbon atom and hydrogen atom is 0.556/12:0.092/1=1:2. So the empirical formula is CH2. The gram formula mass is 28.5/0.5=57. So the molecular formula is C4H8.
