What precipitate will form when aqueous solutions of sodium carbonate (na2co3) and calcium chloride (cacl2) are mixed?

    The precipitate that would form when mixing aqueous solutions of sodium carbonate (na2co3) and calcium chloride (cacl2) would most likely be calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Mixing sodium carbonate and calcium chloride would result to a double replacement reaction or metathesis reaction forming two salts namely sodium chloride and calcium carbonate. Sodium chloride is very soluble in water while calcium chloride is only slightly soluble which means that it only dissolves into water up to a certain amount or degree. So, most probably it is the calcium carbonate that would precipitate out. The balanced chemical reaction would be:

    Na2CO3 + CaCl2 = 2NaCl + CaCO3
