Sodium explodes in water and Chlorine is a poisonous gas. Why is Sodium Chloride (NaCl) edible (why can we eat it) ?

A) Because it tastes good.

B) Because Sodium explodes in water.

C) Because when sodium and chlorine bond it changes their properties.

D) Without salt we couldn't have good popcorn.

    C, as chemical properties change once bonds are formed due to the atoms forming the molecule having less free electrons in the outer shell to react with other elements
