Describe, in terms of kinetic and potential energy, what happens if a large boulder were to fall off a cliff and come to rest on the ground. Include in your explanation how you would determine the initial PE of the boulder.

    The gravitational potential energy it had from being above the ground is converted to kinetic energy as the rock falls ... If the cliff is high enough, the acceleration due to gravity and the air resistance due to the velocity will be exactly equal and there will be no change in kinetic energy.
