    Explanation:

    Mixture of two substances with an objective of improving the properties of any one of the elements is called an alloy. In the case of gold, Gold is alloyed with copper to enhance its flexibility, toughness and hardness. It can also be alloyed with range of metals including silver, copper, platinum, palladium, and zinc.

    Pure gold is extremely soft for practical use. Copper also enhance the malleability and ductility of gold metal.
