    The resistivity of a semiconductor is between that of a good conductor (metal) and a good insulator (nonmetal). Metals are good conductors of electricity since they have free flowing electrons. Nonmetals, on the other hand, are not able to conduct heat or electricity very well. In conclusion, semiconductors fall between these two.
