Many lives are in danger when hastily erected buildings collapse because safety standards have been sacrificed to hopes of a quick profit. To prevent disasters of this kind, governments should play a greater role in setting and enforcing safety standards for building construction. Do you agree or disagree?

    Agree

    Explanation:

The government should intervene and devise a policy for every sector to follow. Both the constructor and the company/organisation awarding the building contract should be kept bound to ensure the erection of the structure in a specific time period depending on the nature of the building. The time period and construction pace related to size of the buildings should be mentioned in the policy. Before official opening of such constructions PAT (Provisional Acceptance Test) should be conducted including all the stakeholders who verify some standard factors regarding the construction and Quality Assurance should be involved for inspection of the quality and life of the material.

I strongly agree with this statement.

    Explanation:

The reason for agreement is that in a countries where there is a lot of corruption and you can get clearance for the map of a building and other safety standards through illegal means just for the sake of more benefit.

Whenever a disaster occur like floods or earth quakes, the big structured buildings like shopping centers demolish and result in the damage of buildings in their vicinity. This damage of other buildings results in the loss of several precious human lives, money and infrastructure.

We generally see in news that whenever earthquake or natural disaster occur in a country where the safety standard are compromised for the sake of financial gains. The casualties of human lives and infrastructure destruction becomes many fold due to the lack of interest in implementation of safety standards by the concerned authorities.
