"In A Good Man is Hard to Find" by Flannery O'Connor the mother is nameless which symbolizes that she is a nonentity. She is an emotionless and impassive character who does not see or do anything much. She only plays her motherly duties in passivity. The only time she gets some attention in the text is at the time of her death and towards the end of the tale.
