A passive sentence is a sentence that happened in the past.
Example: I ate my ice cream. I is my subject and ate is my verb, and ate is a passive word.
Example 2: I am eating my ice cream. I is the subject again but the verb is different. Instead, this sentence is telling you that i am eating ice cream right now, so that means that this is a present verb.
Examples of passive verbs: ate, ran, jumped, coughed, and walked
