    - I've been thinking of joining the sorority for a long time but I suddenly came up with something that always stopped me to make the last decision. I realised that if I were a member of sorority I would be just like the others, I mean, I would lost my individuality and would just became a part of a whole. That is not what I always dreamt of, so I'd better stay a person who I am.

The above question is about the character Millicent in the story "Initiation" by Sylvia Plath.

Millicent wanted to join a high school sorority to become popular. She and her friend, Tracy, underwent an initiation and she made a lot of discoveries about herself. She'd rather not join the sorority but still wants to be friends with Tracy and the sorority girls.

Here is what I think she would say to the sorority.

"I wanted to join this sorority because I wanted to be popular like you girls. But, I realized that I'm better off as being my authentic self and I'd rather be true myself than be a follower and do things I don't believe in. I hope that even though I'm not joining this sorority, I can still be friends with you all".
