Literary analysis is a broad term but usually, you will take a short summary of an author's work. You then will analyze the book or article by finding their thesis statement and find all of their main ideas. You'll also want to fully understand the work by using other references like a dictionary, thesaurus, or maybe even another literary analysis. A literary analysis is really just about breaking the story or article down and understanding it as much as you can.
