I remember my first Christmas like it was yesterday. I woke up and it was snowing! My sisters and I ran downstairs, right past the tree with all of the presents beneath it, and straight out the door. It was so cold I could see polar bears wearing jackets! But we stayed out there while we waited for our parents to wake up, without even a jacket, enjoying the snow.

Read the passage.

"It was so cold I could see polar bears wearing jackets!" Is an example of what type of figurative language?

A simile

B personification

    D. Hyperbole

    Simile = like/as

    Personification = animals/things doing humanly actions

    Idiom = phrase with different meanings behind it

    Hyperbole = example: Bill Gates has so much money that it’d be a waste for him to pick up a dollar on the ground.

    So basically it’s hyperbole because polarbears are already warmed by it’s coat but them wearing a jacket is "over exaggerating" it. (To explain how cold they felt it was)
