The correct answer is: Jumpy and gullible.

    Explanation:

Mr. Frampton Nuttel, one of the main characters from the short story, "The Open Window", by Saki, and which was published in 1911, is described and shown throughout the story, especially at the beginning, as a very antisocial, neurotic, and highly nervous man who goes to Mrs. Sappleton's home, at the urge of his doctors and with the introduction from his sister, in order to find a peaceful place where he can relax and calm his nerves. While this character waits for Mrs. Sappleton to appear, he encounters himself with Vera, the niece of Mrs. Sappleton, who tells him that her uncle and his two brothers-in-law have passed away and that her aunt leaves the window open in hopes that they will come back. Mr. Nuttel, being also very gullible, believes in Vera so blindly, that when he sees the three men coming towards the house, he does believe that they are indeed ghosts.
