The novel of Uncle Tom was written by Harriet Beecher Stowe in 1851 before the abolition of slavery. The novel narrates a story of a rich man who owns a very loyal slave, the Uncle Tom, and due economic crisis he is obliged to sell his best salve. Uncle Tom conscious about his future does not escape and accept his destiny, he is bought by the cruel Simon who made him a leader but Tom denies to torture other slaves. Facing the master Tom says: ""Do what you want of me," he says, "when my body is dead, I will have all eternity for me"

Regarding the Harrys Family story, is about George who is an intelligent young man who happens to be the salve of the cruel Mr. Harris. As George is talented, he invented a machine for cleaning hemp, but the master is jealous and uses George's abilities to punish and humiliate him.

Uncle Tom is an example on loyalty to his master but it also reaffirms his conviction of human rights by not treating the other as he wouldn't like to be treated; on the other hand George is an example of a man who would make a great citizen in a democratic society but who is kept down by the institution of slavery.
