West African "mansas" or kings, became very wealthy as a result of the trading that occurred in their kingdom, even though they were not actually traders themselves. Explain one reason why this happened?

    The kingdoms of West Africa became rich because of their export of gold, livestock, diamonds, coffee, cotton and other natural resources. Though not traders themselves the kings created a tax system on the imported goods that were traded with the above items.
