The one that describes the effect of a successful straw man logical fallacy is A. it focuses the opponent on an argument or perspective that doesn't actually exist.

Straw man is a fallacy that consists in misrepresenting and even distorting an opponent's argument. The person that resorts to the straw man fallacy refutes an opponent's argument that does not actually exist. In other words, this person pretends to have refuted an opponent's argument and even to have defeated him/her using an argument not presented by that opponent.
