Victor sat calmly, thinking of Teresa, who sat two rows away, reading a paperback novel. This would be his lucky year. He turned a page in the book and stared at some math problems that scared him because he knew he would have to do them eventually. Mr. Bueller said that if the students studied hard, at the end of the year they could go to France and be understood by the populace.

Mr. Bueller said that if the students studied hard, at the end of the year they could go to France and be understood by the populace.

    Explanation:

An external expectation refers to society's or somebody else's determined belief that something will occur or be the case in the future. As a consequence, Mr Bueller expects the students to study hard; if they do, Mr Bueller expects them to travel to France, where he expects French people will be able to understand them.
