Which is punctuated correctly?

A. Before they went on vacation, they made sure that the power was turned off.

B. Before they went on vacation, they made sure, that the power was turned off.

C. Before they went on vacation they made sure, that the power was turned off.

D. Before they went on vacation they made sure that the power was turned off.

    The best answer is A.

    In answer choice B, there shouldn't be a comma placed after sure.

    Answer choice C: The comma is placed incorrectly. If you read it out loud, it doesn't flow well.

    Answer choice D: This could work, however adding a comma would allow the reader to pause for a second or two and then continue on with the sentence (which is better).
