Identify and explain the tone of this passage. What specific words contribute to the tone? Then, explain how the tone of the passage would change if the words "puddle of gray algae in which its insignificant bleached bulb had fallen into a tangle of twigs" replaced the words in bold. Be sure to identify the new tone and explain how the changed words create that tone. Your response should be a paragraph of 3-5 sentences.

The Answer Is:

The tone of this passage seemed to be mystical because when it seemed that all hope was lost, he found it sitting neatly in a bed of yellow moss on the bank of a stream. Some words that contributed to the tone were bewildering and discouraging, and then the transition into beautiful and soft nest. The tone would have changed if it was replaced by the new phrase because it would have changed the tone from a positive connotation to a negative one.
