Explanation:

"Auspex" by James Russell Lowell is a hopeful poem suggesting not to overlook even the smallest of things like "bird's nest". He advocates to value the precious elements of nature (birds, brown leaves) and appreciate and enjoy the gifts of nature. The author uses the metaphor of birds to emphasize his message and the poem is composed in a sequential manner which is suggestive of different stages of the natural process begins with the birdsongs and conclude with the bird leaving the nest which he compares to the death of a child and hinting towards the end to good times and filled his heart with sorrow.
