    Frank O'Connor was born on 17 September 1903 as Michael Francis O'Donovan of the Irish descent. He was famous for his short stories and memoirs. Not only that, he was also well known as a translator, essayist, biographer, critic and travel writer.

    He also was also known for translating Irish poetry into English and was also known as an Irish teacher.

    Frank O'Connor wrote over 150 short stories and memoirs and one of them is 'The First Confession' written in 1950. It is a story about the Irish life pattern and rhythm in the 1950's. 'The First Confession' was told by a seven year old boy, named Jackie, who was under the compulsion to make his First Confession before his First Holy Communion.

    Frank O'Connor died on 1o March 1966 in Dublin, Ireland, from a heart attack.
