The main character would be the narrator. Whom has a problem with the old man, the atagonist, which he is living with.

"The Tell-Tale Heart" is told in the first person and the narrator, who is the main character, gives very little away about him or herself. All the reader knows for sure is that this person has killed an old man because they don't like what they call his "Evil Eye."
