Earth’s rotation takes about 24 hours. By definition, the rotation of earth is the amount of time it takes to rotate once around its axis. On average, this apparently happens once a day i. e after every 24 hours with respect to the sun (solar day) and once after every 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.09 seconds with respect to the stars (sidereal day).
