The reasons why Colonists went to the New World was because they were some were looking for gold in the west, others went for religious reasons following their church groups, and others just wished to look for better opportunities and escape from the hardships tey were facing in England. Thus, Colonists separated from other colonies so that they could have their own places and could live under their own religious beliefs.
