The disintegration of Yugoslavia brought in lot of problems in its former socialist republics, as well as in the relations between them.

    Explanation:

Yugoslavia's fall, or rather disintegration, happened at the begging of the 1990's. This was due to the nationalistic movements and politics in the republics that were making the country. This led to tensions between the different ethnic and religious groups and things escalated quickly.

As the republics started to declare independence, the two dominant, Serbia and Croatia, engaged in military action in order to gain as much territory as possible. This first resulted in war in Slovenia, than in Bosnia, with the second one having devastating effects. After few years there was war in Kosovo, with the Serbians and Albanians both performing genocides on each other.

The economic consequences were that the countries were in terrible conditions, with old industrial facilities, and having no real power to push through and lift themselves up quickly. The corruption was and still is widespread. Politically there has constantly been tensions, be it internal or with the neighboring countries, mostly because of territorial ambitions. Social it has led to internal division by ethnic and religious groups and high intolerance between them.
