    Unification is simply defined as the merger of politically divided but culturally similar lands. Industrialization can be regarded as the development of defined trades, businesses and industries.

    For Germany, there was an effective leverage of the technology and infrastructural provisions. Thus, iron and coal, represent the most important elements of any technological development and advancement. Having this simply afforded the Germans the blueprint for advanced economic growth and development. This can not be said of Italy.

    Using iron and coal, Germany was able to impressively defined her bourgeoning railway system. With effective railway system, it was only sooner that development reaches most of the major cities and provinces.

    Thus, after the unification exercise, Germany easily leveraged on the abundant natural resources to build infrastructure - a basis for advanced technological advancement. This cannot be said of Italy at that time.
