Prempeh I was the Ashanti king who was exiled by the British to Seychelles in 1896.

    Explanation:

Prempeh I was installed as Ashanti king in 1894 by the arbitration of the British governor but he later refused to make Ashanti a British protectorate. In 1896, however, the British army seized the capital of Ashanti Empire, arrested the king and exiled him because of his failure to met British demands. In his absence Britain annexed Ashanti. They improved communication and built a fort in Kumasi. Prempeh I was allowed to return in 1926 and was reinstated as Asantehene.
