    Explanation:

    U. S. had annexed the territories of Philippines and Puerto Rico as a result of the War between U. S. and Spain. Though the war persisted for not more than 6 weeks but this had resulted in immense gain and victory for U. S.

    It gained the control over two important oversees possession of Spain namely; Cuba and Philippines. Fearing the Japan's attempt to acquire the islands of Hawaii then U. S. President McKinley annexed the Hawaii in 1898 by signing a resolution on 7th July 1898.
