    Before the Crusades, European nations were medieval compared to Islamic countries which were some of the most sophisticated and advanced societies at the time.

    Due to their interactions with the more advanced Arabs, Europeans got to know about soap, bathing, spices, sciences etc.

    Eventually, this did result in the middle ages and the Renaissance movement.
