    There has been a considerable shift from rural living to urban way of life during 1850 to 1880.

    Explanation:

    In early eighteenth century about ninety four percent of the population in America lived in rural areas and the economy was mostly agrarian. long distance travel was by boats and people in the house holds were self sufficient. Going to town meant horse driven wagons and carts and it was calculated that around six percent of the people lived in cities during the early eighteenth century.

    It was a period wherein the seventh United states Census undertook a survey and recorded that the population in Virginia and other important towns doubled and America ' three important cities, New York, Philadelphia and Boston recorded that there was triple increase in the population rate and the life expectancy also drastically changed from 47 to 60 years.
