Pardoner plans to marry soon and is worried that his wife will control his body, as the wife of Bath Alison describes him. The Wife of Bath tells him to have patience and to listen to the whole tale to see if it reveals the truth about marriage. Of her five husbands, three have been "good" and two have been "bad."Alison is making Pardoner a bit nervous in taking his decision of marriage as Alison had married five times and she used to tortured her husbands and he might get the same treatment from his wife when he gets married soon.
